It’s hard to believe that the first month of the year is already coming to an end. Where does the time go? It’s crazy! Anyways, at the beginning of the year I shared a post on how to effectively set your goals for the new year, in which I mentioned that I had ordered a planner from Plum Paper. And if you follow me on Instagram, a little over a week ago I also shared that it has finally arrived! Yay! Before ordering from Plum Paper, I surprisingly had never heard of the company. In a quest to find the perfect planner for 2018 I stumbled across a review of their product on Youtube that picked my interest. After watching more reviews and combing through their website, I went ahead and customized my own planner. I thought it would be nice to share with you my honest thoughts on everything this planner has offer from cover to cover. Let’s get started 🙂
Size
The Plum Paper planner comes in two different sizes. You can either choose the regular 7X9 format or go with the larger version which is 8 1/2 X 11. I opted for the larger version. In terms of thickness, it is not too thick, no too thin. However, because you can add up to 80 pages of add-ons, that can change. Mine is pretty thick because I used all of the extra 80 pages allowed for add-ons.
Cover
Material: The cover is made out of a thick tear proof and waterproof material. It’s covered with a clear protective plastic sheet. Personally I like the matte look of the cover itself so I slid the protective sheet to the back of the planner. It’s easily removable though. I could just take it off, but I like to keep it there just in case.
Design: The fun part. Plum Paper offers TONS of fun designs for your cover to make it YOURS. There are so many options to personalize it and I love that. I do wish they had more minimalistic options but to be fair, their brand is vibrant, colorful and fun. I was still able to design something that represents my style and that I love!
Paper
Let’s get one thing straight, it is QUALITY paper. I mean it is so smooth! The paper weight is 70lb. You can be sure that you won’t see any pen or marker bleed through it. (I put it to the test!) The tab pages are even heavier. They feel like a very nice coated cardstock and the tabs are covered with durable mylar (it feels like hard plastic). Flipping through the planner is like a breeze. The pages don’t get stuck and certainly don’t feel fragile to the touch.
Layout
Plum Paper offers not two, not three, not four but TEN layout options! Whoa! Seriously, there’s something for everyone. On top of that, you can choose between a colorful layout option or monochromatic. AND you can start your planner layout in ANY month. I must say that the level of customization of the layout (and add-ons) is what sold me with the Plum Paper planner. I mean I’ve never heard of anything like it. The fact that I was able to make it fit to my needs perfectly, and that, at an amazing price point, is just outstanding! All layouts come with: a Year at a glance page, Special Dates page, two Ideas/Plans & Goals planing pages, two Monthly Notes pages, a Passwords page, a Contacts page, a U.S Holidays page, a Next Year at a glance page and a double sided pocket folder.
These are the layouts offered:
- ME Planner (Divide the week into 7 custom sections)
- Vertical 1: M-A-E ( Morning-Afternoon-Evening)
- Vertical 2: Hourly Layout ( The one I got!)
- Vertical 3: Lined Columns
- Horizontal 1: Notes & Days
- Horizontal 2: Two Sided Days
- Monthly Planner
- Teacher Planner
- Student Planner
- Homeschool Teacher Planner
Add-ons
As I mentioned before, you can add up to 80 pages of add-ons. They have 7 categories of them which are: Home, Business, Lifestyle, Educational, Notes & Lists, Dispersed Pages and Stickers. Personally I chose to add a Home, Budget, Blog + Social Media for blogging purposes and Prayer Add-ons. These add-ons include tools and tips to make your life easier. For example, the Home add-on has a pretty legit Laundry Guide and Gardening guide (yes, I’m into gardening!)
Shopping Experience
The website is super user-friendly, easy to navigate and it is quite simple to order. I will say though, it is far more easier to do it on a laptop or desktop, perhaps even a tablet, than a phone! There are really only three steps to the process, which are for one design your cover, then customize your layout and finally, review your order. They even tell you approximately when your planner will be shipped out. They also sell other products like notebooks, interchangeable covers (you can design more!), notepads, ready to ship planners, etc.
Overall
In all honesty, I am so impressed with the quality of this planner. You can tell that so much thought has been put into every part of it. The base price for a Plum Paper planner is 32$ without add-ons. The price for the add-ons fluctuate. I mean, the value of what this planner offers at that price is mind-blowing to me! In my opinion, the Plum Paper Planner is a strong contender amongst its competitors and the fact that you can order it at any time of the year is a huge win!

Hi! I was just wondering how you got the monochromatic option. I am building my planner right now and can’t seem to find that option!
Thanks!
Hi Ashley, I’m just now seeing this! I’m so sorry! I hope you were able to figure it out, let me know how you like your new planner! xo
