First things first, welcome to my blog! I couldn’t be more excited about this new journey and I am so grateful you’ve taken the time to stop by to check it out! In January of this year, as many of us like to do, I made a New Year’s resolution list of the things I wanted to accomplish for 2017. My theme for the year ? Newfound freedom. Free to do what I want to do without fear of failing or fear of the unknown. Although I’m not sure where that list went, one of the things I know I really wanted to accomplish this year was to start a blog. For the longest time, I have been wanting to use the blogging platform as a creative outlet to share about life and the things I love. Unfortunately, one of the biggest “time robbers” many of us don’t like to admit we’re somewhat familiar with, stood in the way. It goes by the name of Fear.
I’m a military wife and a mother of three. Meaning my life is very much centered around caring for the needs of others and living on somebody’s else’s schedule. Don’t get me wrong, I’m very proud to be a military wife and I absolutely love being a mother but it’s easy to get my needs, my wants and my dreams swallowed in the midst of it. I have to be very intentional in carving time and finding ways to fill my “me” tank. I believe that kids or no kids, military spouse or not, many of us can get comfortable letting our circumstances pave the way for us instead of choosing to pave the way through our circumstances. Simply put, letting life happen to us instead of making life happen. It can be very hard and scary to invest time and energy in something when we don’t know what the outcome will be. It’s so easy to play it safe and pass on opportunities that are different from what we’re familiar with fearing that it would be a waste of time or end up hurting us. Many of us can go our whole lives choosing to settle for good enough. Truth is, life is rewarding when you push the envelope and discover what’s out there for you, discover the person you are meant to be rather than the person our society wants you to be.
This past year has taught me so much about timing. I have learned the importance of finding opportunities to grow in my current circumstances. Also, I have learned to discern when God says “No, not just yet we still have work to do” versus “Now is the time, I got you”. It’s truly important to take time and figure out what lesson can be learned from our current season in life. I don’t know about you, but I like things to happen quick. I can get caught up daydreaming about how I wish things would happen while missing out on the fact that today is part of the plan. I constantly have to remind myself to stop and seize opportunities in the now. Like trying something different, meeting new people, getting involved, working on my goals even just a little. Starting this blog, to me is taking a leap in the unknown. Stepping out my comfort zone. Doing something for me without fearing the outcome. What about you? What is it that you’re wanting to do that would require a step of faith? God sees where you are right now and knows where He is leading you. He has the plan, and whatever your dealing with right now is part of the plan. My hope is that out of everyone who visits this page, at least one can feel understood, inspired and encouraged. Thank you so much for taking the time to read! Looking forward to sharing more with you ♡
